Shell Omala S4 WE is specifically designed for heavy-duty industrial worm drive gear systems operating under severe conditions, such as high load, very low or elevated temperatures, and wide temperature variations. It is particularly suitable for systems where maintenance is infrequent or the system is inaccessible, such as yaw gears in wind turbine installations. This oil is ideal for lubrication of bearings and other components in circulating and splash-lubricated systems, though it is not recommended for components made from aluminium or aluminium alloys. For highly loaded spur and helical gears, Shell Omala G series oils are suggested, and for automotive hypoid gears, Shell Spirax Oil is recommended. The oil’s formulation includes polyalkylene glycol base fluids and proprietary additives, ensuring high resistance to micro-pitting and maintaining overall system efficiency.
