A well-maintained battery means better performance and a longer life. Every few months, take a few minutes to do a quick check:
• Look at the battery’s charge indicator (the ‘eye’ on top). Green means good. Clear or black may need charging.
• Keep terminals clean, tight, and corrosion-free.
• Remove dirt or buildup on the casing.
• Check for swelling or signs of damage from overheating.
• If your battery has removable caps, top up with distilled water (don’t overfill).
• Recharge flat batteries as soon as possible. Leaving them discharged causes sulphation.
• Fully charge batteries before storing, and ensure voltage stays above 12.3V during storage.
